An International Seminar on the topic "Advanced Mechanics: Structures, Materials, Tribology" has commenced at Sharof Rashidov Samarkand State University.

Scientists, professors, teachers, researchers, and specialists from prestigious higher education institutions and organizations of foreign countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, the Russian Federation, Belarus, China, Japan, Armenia, Denmark, France, Italy, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, South Korea, India, Finland, Slovenia, Serbia, Poland, and others are participating in the international event.

The international conference was opened by Professor Valentin Popov, Head of the Department of Physics of Systems' Motion and Friction at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany.

In his congratulatory speech, Rustam Khalmuradov, Rector of Samarkand State University, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, discussed the importance, effectiveness, prospects, and opportunities of scientific and practical cooperation.

The conference will discuss issues related to the interrelationship and interaction of mechanical, tribological properties, and material aspects of technical and biological systems, the mechanics of deformable solids, structural mechanics, and tribology in materials science.

The objective is to coordinate ideas, experiences, and prospective directions of mechanics research being conducted in the Republic of Uzbekistan and other foreign countries, to study urgent problems, further develop international cooperation in innovative approaches to mechanics research, and to attract the attention of talented young scientists to promising scientific fields.

On the first day of the conference, presentations were given by Jianbin Luo, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Modern Tribology at Tsinghua University (China) and a Full Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Daniel Dini, Director of the Tribology Section at Imperial College London (United Kingdom); Mitjan Kalin, Head of the Laboratory of Tribology and Interface Nanotoxicology at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Vice-President of the International Tribology Council; Koshi Adachi, Coordinator of Mechanical Systems Engineering and Head of the Tribology and Nanointerface Engineering Laboratory at Tohoku University (Japan); and Seong Kim, Professor of Chemical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University (USA).

In between the presentations, short discussions in a question-and-answer format on the topic were held among the conference participants. The speakers provided detailed answers to questions and shared the conclusions of their scientific research.

The event is attended by specialists working in the fields of mechanics and mathematical modeling, engineering physics, young scientists, doctoral students, research scholars, teachers from general secondary, vocational, and professional educational institutions, master's students, and gifted students, who are presenting the results of their research, practically applied developments, and advanced innovative ideas in the form of reports, articles, and theses.

The international conference will continue until September 26.
