An international conference entitled 'History and Peculiarities of Samarkand Bread' was held at Samarkand State University.

The conference was dedicated to the history and unique characteristics of Samarkand bread, which occupies an important place in our cultural heritage and is renowned worldwide for its distinctive flavour and image.
It was organised by the Samarkand regional khokimiyat, Samarkand State University, and the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage 'Silk Road'.
The event opened with an introductory speech by Professor Hakim Khushvaktov, Head of the Department of Scientific Research and Innovative Development at Samarkand State University.
The Deputy Hokim of the Samarkand region for Tourism, Culture, Cultural Heritage and Mass Communications, Rustam Kobilov, spoke at the conference about the tourism potential of Samarkand bread and its place in the global market as a national brand. He noted the bread not to be interpreted as a food product only, but also as a social phenomenon closely connected with history, art, and traditions.
Associate Professors Behzod Turakulov, Sherbek Ravshanov, Azizbek Ungalov, Odil Boynazarov, and Amira Ibodova participated in the conference with their scientific presentations.
In their speeches, the ancient roots of Samarkand bread, its echoes in historical sources, traditions in the baking process, and modern innovations were analyzed.
The speakers paid special attention to the traditions of Samarkand bread, its role in the local traditions and customs, the originality of Samarkand bread and its philosophy.
