On November 3, 2026, the prestigious international ranking agency QS Quacquarelli Symonds published its list of the best universities in Asia — the "QS Asia University Rankings 2027." A total of 38 higher education institutions from Uzbekistan were included in the ranking.

Sharaf Rashidov Samarkand State University secured the 215th position among the best universities in Asia, improving its standing by nearly 100 places compared to the previous year (in 2025, it held the 307th position). Within Central Asia, the university ranked 11th (up from 20th in 2025), while within Uzbekistan, it reached 3rd place (up from 5th in 2025).

These ranking results are a tangible outcome of the reforms implemented within the country’s higher education system, as well as efforts to expand international cooperation.

More than 1,700 universities from 26 countries and regions across Asia participated in this international ranking. The criteria for the assessment are based on research potential, international reputation, graduate employability, quality indicators of the educational process, and activities related to international cooperation.
