What are the benefits of self-study for students?

Students of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnology and Food Safety of Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov were tested for knowledge of independent study tasks.
Extensiveness, accuracy and quality of students' performance of independent study tasks during one semester, as well as the level of their knowledge and skills in the natural sciences were evaluated.
This begs the question. What are the benefits of self-study for students?
First of all, the student must understand that the independent work that he does is a key factor in ensuring his or her future success, and not just for the teacher. The student must understand that he is responsible for the result of his education.
The main goals of independent work of students are:
- learn new methods of cognition, be able to independently analyze processes;
- to consolidate, deepen, expand and systematize the knowledge gained in the classroom;
- independent study of educational materials;
- development of activity, knowledge, creative initiative, responsibility and discipline;
- to form the ability to apply the acquired knowledge in practice;
- independent thinking, self-development, the formation of the implementation of their plans;
- development of research skills, etc.
