A republican scientific-practical conference titled “The Phenomenon of Mahmudkhuja Behbudiy in the Development of National Journalism” was held at Sharof Rashidov Samarkand State University. The event was organized in cooperation with the Creative Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan and the university. The conference was attended by media heads, journalists, and scholars from Samarkand, Jizzakh, Navoi, and Qashqadaryo regions.

The conference was opened with an introductory speech by Rustam Khalmuradov, Rector of Samarkand State University, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

Key presentations on the scientific and practical significance of Mahmudkhuja Behbudiy's heritage were delivered by: Farmon Toshev, Editor-in-Chief of the joint editorial office of “Zarafshon” and “Samarkandskiy Vestnik” newspapers; Kholmurod Salimov, Acting Chairman of the Creative Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan; Husan Ermatov, Editor-in-Chief of “Ishonch” and “Ishonch – Doverie” newspapers, Member of the Senate, and Honored Journalist of Uzbekistan; Halim Saidov, Professor at the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan and renowned Behbudiy scholar, among others.

Following the speeches, a group of Samarkand-based creative professionals were presented with membership IDs of the Journalists Union of Uzbekistan.

After the official part of the conference, participants visited the Mahmudkhuja Behbudiy House-Museum in Samarkand, the library of the famous writer and journalist Abdusaid Kuchimov in the Dehqonobod neighborhood of Urgut district, the Urgut railway station, as well as the zoological museum, botanical greenhouse, laboratories, and new buildings of Samarkand State University. During the tour, the guests were accompanied by the First Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual-Enlightenment Work, Subhon Abbosov.
