REVIEW AND NEW PLANS
Professor Wu Pute, Rector of Northwest A&F University, one of China’s largest and most renowned higher education institutions in the agricultural sector, visited Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov. The Chinese delegation was received by Rustam Khalmuradov, Rector of Samarkand State University, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
During the meeting between the rectors of Northwest A&F University and Samarkand State University, the work accomplished to date between the two universities was reviewed, and future plans were agreed upon. Specifically, it was decided to further improve the activities of the “China-Uzbekistan Crop Breeding and Seed Production Center”, established by the two universities, and to establish a joint scientific research laboratory based on the center’s next five-year plan. The center will carry out work on creating new varieties of wheat and other agricultural crops resistant to various stress factors. To this end, 4 SamSU graduates are currently pursuing doctoral and master’s degrees at Northwest A&F University, conducting research in modern fields.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the issue of joint personnel training. In the upcoming academic year, 10 SamSU students will have the opportunity to study at Northwest A&F University under scholarship programs provided by the Chinese government.
