A CRITICAL GLOBAL ISSUE
An international scientific and practical conference on “Food Security: Global and National Problems” is being held at Samarkand State University.
Currently, food security is becoming one of the most pressing issues not only in our country but also for the entire global community. Drastic climate change, ecological crises, water scarcity, soil degradation, salinization, erosion, drought, and other factors are further complicating the situation. This necessitates the development of the sector through the application of new innovative trends, technologies, and scientific achievements.
With the aim of comprehensively studying this important issue, bringing science and education to a new qualitative level, disseminating the rich experience accumulated in leading countries worldwide within our republic, and promoting Uzbekistan's experience, the traditional VII International Scientific and Practical Conference on “Food Security: Global and National Problems” commenced its work at the Institute of Biochemistry of Samarkand State University. Scientists from the USA, Russia, Germany, Serbia, Poland, Pakistan, Tajikistan, along with Uzbek scientists, participated in the conference.
The plenary session of the conference was opened by Hakim Khushvaktov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs and Innovations of SamSU, who read out a greeting to the conference participants from Rustam Khalmuradov, Rector of Samarkand State University, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Member of the Oliy Majlis Senate.
Professor of the National University of Uzbekistan, Academician Bakhriddin Zaripov, delivered a welcoming speech. Professor Igor Rodin of Moscow State University greeted the conference participants and presented a report on “Investigation of physicochemical processes occurring during radiation processing of food products”. Following this, the attention of the conference participants was drawn to an online presentation by Professor of Samarkand State University, Academician Kahramon Davronov, on “Soil Fertility and Food Problems, and Microorganisms”, a report by Professor Dragana Randjelović of Serbia’s Institute for Technology of Nuclear and Other Mineral Raw Materials on “Chemical Composition of Pasture Soils in the Karnabchul Region with Different Intensities of Livestock Grazing under Modeled Climatic Conditions”, and a report by Professor Abdulmalik Batukaev of Akhmad Kadyrov Chechen State University on “Biotechnological Method of Grape Health Improvement and Propagation”.
In the afternoon, scientific discussions and deliberations took place in sections. The conference will continue its work tomorrow.
