Business trip to Urumqi

Professor Akmal Akhatov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at Samarkand State University, visited Urumqi in China on a business trip.
As part of the trip, he participated in the inaugural meeting of university ministers from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states, as well as the SCO conference.
During these events, SamSU signed a cooperation agreement with Xi'an Jiaotong University and the renowned Chinese "Higher Education Publishing House" for the implementation of a transnational textbook creation project.
At the conference, Professor Akhatov gave a presentation on the topic 'A new stage of international cooperation in higher education, science and technology'.
Meetings were also held with officials from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Heilongjiang University, Beijing Foreign Languages University and Northwest University.
Issues discussed at the meetings included reducing socio-economic inequality and poverty, developing and introducing new alternative energy sources, the in-depth study of Confucianism and Islam, developing joint scientific projects and the exchange of professors, teachers, researchers and students.
