At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Italy, a dialogue was organized between professors of Samarkand State University and the University of Florence in Italy to establish mutual cooperation in the field of viticulture through the Zoom platform.

      It was attended by the head of the department of international cooperation of SamSU Mukhtor Nosirov, director of the Institute of Agrobiotechnologies and Food Safety Associate Professor Tashpolat Rajabov, professors of the University of Florence Giovanni Mattia and Paola Domizio and Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in Italy Leonardo Comucci.

      During the dialogue, it was noted that in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and Italy have been increasingly developing in various fields, including the growing interest in cooperation in the field of education.

      It was also noted that there is a great potential for scientific and practical cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture, medium-term tasks were discussed in detail.

      Today, the country pays special attention to the issues of training personnel, advanced training of specialists, conducting scientific research in mutual cooperation, improving local grape varieties, studying the best practices of winemaking.

      In this regard, a presentation was made on the experience of Samarkand State University and ongoing programs. It was noted that the Institute of Agrobiotechnologies and Food Safety of SamSU plays an important role in training personnel in the field of viticulture and enology.

      Professor of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food of the University of Florence Giovanni Mattii expressed a serious interest in the ongoing reforms in the country and said that he was ready for practical cooperation with Samarkand State University in the field of viticulture.

      The parties agreed to exchange students and teachers between universities, cooperate in scientific work and organize mutual scientific trips.

      For reference: The University of Florence was founded in 1321, and today it has more than 60,000 students in 130 specialties. The Faculty of Agriculture and Food of the University trains qualified personnel in the field of viticulture and winemaking in Italy.
