Student of Samarkand State University, winner of the Asian Cup Isroil Norbaev: “To succeed, you must first obtain the consent and blessing of parents and teachers…”

A student of Samarkand State University, winner of the Asian Cup in judo, two-time champion of Uzbekistan, member of the national team of Uzbekistan, Israil Norboev, recently competed in the national judo team in Dubai, winning a gold medal at the competition.
- What are your impressions of the contest?
- The competition went very well. We worked closely with the team, always supported each other, and eventually took first place. Of course, our coaches play a big role in this.
- How did you feel when the national anthem was played?
“First of all, I think about my parents.” I think it's true that the Motherland begins with this family. You know, this is the time when excitement, pride, joy - it all comes together. It's hard to put into words.
- How did you get into the sport?
"My father is a farmer." One day we went to the market to sell cattle. Then I heard an unknown sports coach say to my father: "Give your child a fight and he will become a champion." My dad also wanted me to become an athlete. After this incident, I took my first step in the sport.
- What are you doing in your spare time?
- I spend my free time learning new ways. I watch fights of famous judokas. Reading is also one of my favorite hobbies.
- What was the last fiction book you read?
- The last time I read "The Last Days" by Abdullah Kadiri. I know it's a very popular book, there's a movie based on it. But I'm reading this for the first time. I learned a lot of new things for myself.
What needs to be done first to be successful?
- First of all, it is necessary to obtain the consent and blessing of parents and teachers. After that, hard work will educate you and prepare you for battle. The harder you train, the easier it will be in combat.
Who is your ideal athlete?
- I like the wrestling, style and character of Davlat Bobonov, a graduate of Samarkand State University, bronze medalist of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Davlat Bobonov also inspires us.
- What do you draw strength from?
- The trust of parents is the biggest strength and inspiration for me.
- What are your plans for the future?
- Now we are preparing for the Cup of Uzbekistan, which will be held on May 25 in Termez. I hope we come back with good results, God willing.
- What words do you have for your peers and brothers?
- First of all, everyone should set a goal for themselves, and then go towards it. Achieving the goal, of course, will not be easy. But relentless and relentless efforts will help us move forward. I am proud to be a student of Samarkand State University. When I came here, I became the champion of Asia. I have new coaches and friends. Both the President and the rector of our university create all conditions for us. Taking advantage of these opportunities is both a duty and an obligation for us. Thank you for your attention!
