An international scientific-practical seminar on “Water Resources Management” was held at Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov. This event was dedicated to the scientific study of water resource management, their territorial distribution, water scarcity problems arising under global climate change conditions, and changes in hydrological processes in river basins. The conference was attended by Khakim Khushvaqtov, SamSU Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and Innovations, and Akmal Akhadov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation.

Today, globally, issues such as the depletion of clean drinking water reserves, disruption of natural river flow capacity and regimes, increased water waste in irrigation systems, glacier retreat, and ecological imbalance are becoming increasingly urgent. Especially in the Central Asian region, rational use of water resources, management of transboundary rivers, and ensuring water supply stability are among the most crucial tasks. Specifically, scientific issues related to water flow formation in the Zarafshan River basin, the impact of climatic factors, changes in water balance, and ecological risks were discussed in detail.

During the seminar, leading foreign and local scientists, representatives of research institutions, and industry experts shared their presentations and scientific results. Among them were Professor Dr. Kirsten de Beurs, head of the "Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing" laboratory, international expert from Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands; Dr. Asqarali Karimov, Technical Water Management Director at "KPA Engineers," USA; Hydrologist Abror G‘afurov, representative of the German GFZ Helmholtz Centre and author of the MODSNOW system widely used in Central and South Asia, Europe, and South America; Dr. Oyto‘ra Anarbekov, Regional Manager for Central Asia at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI); and Zafar G‘afurov, international expert for the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA) and IWMI in Uzbekistan, among others, delivered presentations.

At the conclusion of the event, scientifically grounded ideas and proposals were put forward, and directions for future cooperation were defined.
