“Open Doors Day” for Students
In order to attract graduates of general secondary schools to higher education institutions, an “Open Doors Day” event was organized at Samarkand State University. The event was attended by the university’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Shukhrat Umidullayev, Chief Specialist of the Academic Department Samad Tolliboyev, Head of the Marketing and Student Affairs Department Murod Hojiyev, Head of the Preschool and School Education Department of Samarkand district Sherzod Abulkhayrov, Methodist of the School Coordination Branch Murod Mirzayev, and 180 gifted graduates from schools in the Samarkand district.
The event was opened by Tulkin Samadov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Agrobiotechnologies and Food Security of Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov. Students received detailed information about the facilities created at the institute, its laboratories, and partnerships with foreign universities. They also had the opportunity to meet international professors and students who are working and studying at the institute.
Following this, Rahmatilla Mirzayev (Dean of the Faculty of Law), Ro‘ziqul Abriyev (Dean of the Faculty of History), Ahmad Kholkho‘jayev (Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics), Shahob G‘aniyev (Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Ecology), Shohruh Jo‘raqulov (Director of the Institute of Human Resources and Neighborhood Development), Siroj O‘roqov (Director of the Institute of Biochemistry), and Ahmad Absanov (Director of the Institute of Engineering Physics) briefed the students on research being conducted at Samarkand State University and its affiliated institutes. They highlighted international cooperation, academic exchanges, the activities of laboratories and research centers, student facilities, and the university’s archaeology, zoology, geology, and Victims of Repression museums.
Specifically, it was noted that Samarkand State University currently consists of 6 institutes, 6 faculties, and 61 departments. The university trains specialists in 71 undergraduate directions and 49 master’s specialties. Currently, 1,111 professors and teachers instruct 15,348 students. It was emphasized that the university’s scientific potential stands at 76.5% and its international prestige continues to grow. At the end of the event, the graduates toured the university’s classrooms, laboratories, and museums.
