Samarkand State University: The nationwide program “Yashil Makon” consistently continues...
In 2022, professors, teachers and students of Samarkand State University planted 1,500 fruit trees on 5 hectares of land in the remote Koshrabad district and 5,000 fruit trees on 12 hectares of land in the Nurabad district.
Today, in continuation of this program, more than 2,500 fruit and ornamental trees have been planted on 1.02 hectares of land on the territory of the Institute of Agrobiotechnologies and Food Security of SamSU, located in the Dzhambay district.
These gardens, organized on the initiative of the rector of Samarkand State University, scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Rustam Khalmurodov, are based on science and aimed at developing environmental literacy among the population and awakening a sense of care for nature.
Today, environmental problems are worsening not only in our country, but throughout the world. There is air pollution, depletion of water resources, food shortages, and the fertility of land and soil is decreasing,” says Rustam Khalmuradov. - Such problems make our lives difficult and reduce the quality of life... One of the most important aspects of the large-scale reforms carried out in our country is to improve the well-being of the population. That is why the nationwide project “Yashil Makon” was developed. As President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted: “Since ancient times, our ancestors lived in harmony with Mother Nature. Unfortunately, consumerism towards nature is growing today. All of humanity is suffering from various problems caused by climate change. This situation requires all of us to take action that cannot be delayed.” Community gardens not only clean the air, but also help solve food insecurity issues. If everyone plants one tree or follows an ecological culture, we will achieve the goal. The duty of each of us is to make our cities and villages environmentally friendly and with all living conditions...
The creation of a garden at the Institute of Agrobiotechnologies and Food Security of Samarkand State University makes it possible to coordinate theory and practice. Teachers and students are also happy with this,” says the director of the institute, associate professor Toshpulat Radzhabov. - Now our boys and girls are conducting practical training and laboratory classes at our institute... I believe that the seedlings planted today will become a huge garden in the future...
