Call for Applications for the 2026 International Competition “Okayama Award for Education for Sustainable Development”
We are pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2026 international competition “Okayama Award for Education for Sustainable Development,” organized by the Government of Japan in cooperation with international partner organizations, including UNESCO and United Nations University.
This prestigious award is aimed at supporting and encouraging advanced and innovative projects implemented in the field of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Within the framework of the competition, initiatives in the following areas will be recognized:
- environmental protection;
- preservation of cultural heritage;
- community development;
- inclusiveness and equal opportunities.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Only organizations are eligible to apply (individuals are not eligible);
- The submitted project must have been implemented for at least three years (as of April 2026).
Awards:
- One or two projects will be selected as winners;
- Each winning project will receive a cash prize of USD 3,000.
