    Doctor of Sociological Sciences (DSc), Associate Professor. Tagiyeva Gulsum Gafurovna is a researcher actively engaged in scientific work in the fields of sociology and social work. In 2019, she obtained her PhD with a dissertation on “Improving the principles of social solidarity in public communication,” and in 2025, she earned her Doctor of Science (DSc) degree with a dissertation on “Development of the social protection system in Uzbekistan: a sociological analysis.”

    Her research focuses on social solidarity, social protection systems, youth sociology, family and gender sociology, and economic sociology. She is the author of 3 monographs, 2 textbooks, 2 study guides, and around 10 educational-methodical works. She has published more than 100 scientific articles, including papers in Scopus-indexed and other international journals.

    Currently, she serves as Acting Head of the Department of Sociology.

Khujanov Zafar Bektimirovich

Assistant at the Department of Sociology and Social Work (PhD). He has been working at the Department of Sociology of Samarkand State University since 2018. He defended his PhD dissertation on “Factors for lifting low-income populations out of poverty in Uzbekistan.”

He is the author of 2 study guides and has published more than 20 scientific articles in national and international journals.

Navruzov Oybek Egamqulovich

Lecturer at the Department of Sociology. He has been working at the Department of Sociology and Social Work of Samarkand State University since 2007. He defended his PhD dissertation on “Social factors in the formation of educational values among youth in Uzbekistan.”

He is the author of 1 study guide and has published more than 20 scientific articles in international journals.

Eshmurodov Nabillo Ibodullo ogli

Lecturer at the Department of Sociology. He has been working at the Department of Sociology and Social Work of Samarkand State University since 2021. He is currently conducting research on “Improving mechanisms for providing social assistance to vulnerable groups of the population.”

He has published around 10 scientific articles.

Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Psychology and Socio-Political Sciences, Samarkand State University.
Currently conducting scientific research on the topic: "The Process of Healing in Uzbek National Traditions and Its Impact on the Formation of the Individual's Aesthetic Consciousness."
To date, she has published more than 30 scientific articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals.

Khaydarova Khilola Khislatovna

Since 2025, she has served as an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Sociology, Samarkand State University. Currently, she is conducting research on the topic: "Social Factors of Urban Ecosystem Management (Case Study of Samarkand City)." She is the author of 4 teaching manuals and 12 scientific articles (9 published in national journals and 3 in international publications), as well as approximately 50 abstracts published in conference proceedings

About the Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology at Samarkand State University was established in 1994 and initially operated under the name “Department of Sociology.” In 2017–2020, it was renamed the “Department of Social Sciences,” and in 2020–2025 it functioned as the “Department of Sociology and Social Work.” Since November 10, 2025, it has been operating again under the name “Department of Sociology.”

The faculty members collaborate with higher education institutions in India, Russia, Kazakhstan, and the United States. Currently, the department hosts Professor Gulmira Serikovna Abdiraiymova from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Professor Erin Trought Hofmann from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice at Utah State University (USA), and Professor B. Karimov, Doctor of Sociology at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The academic staff has developed around 10 textbooks, teaching and methodological manuals. In addition, more than 5 monographs, over 10 scientific collections, around 200 scientific articles, and more than 100 popular science publications have been published.

Currently, the department is conducting research on the topic “Current Issues of Organizing Social Research in New Uzbekistan.”
