    Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Askar Khasanov President of the Geotechnical Society of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Member of the International Technical Council on Geotechnical Problems of Preservation of Cultural Heritage Sites. Member of the New York Academy of Geological Sciences since 1996. In 2012, for scientific and practical work in the field of geotechnics, he was awarded the N. M. Gersevanov Medal of the Russian Society of Soil Mechanics, Geotechnics and Foundation Construction.

    In 2022, for his scientific and practical work in the field of Geotechnics, he was awarded the T. Zh. Zhunisov Medal of the Geotechnical Society of Kazakhstan.

    In 2022, for scientific and practical work in the field of geotechnics, he was awarded a medal of the Russian, Siberian Geotechnicians Association.

    Currently, he is the Head of the Department of "Theoretical and Applied Mechanics" of SamSU, and also heads the design and survey institute of Geofundamentproekt LLC, where complex, sometimes unique, projects for industrial and civil purposes are implemented in the territory of Uzbekistan. Author of more than 300 foundation projects and more than 10 patents created in the complex engineering and geological conditions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Under the leadership of Professor Askar Khasanov, Uzbekistan has held more than 3 republican and more than 5 international conferences dedicated to geotechnical problems. Author of a number of educational and methodological manuals.

From the history of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics

The Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics is one of the historical departments of Samarkand State University. In 1946, at the initiative of Professor I.S. Kukles, the Department of Theoretical Mechanics was created, and in 1950, the Department of Mechanics. I.S. Kukles, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (1960).

In different years, I.S. Kukles, Kh.R. Rakhimov, I.I. Shirov, N.A. Tubasov, M.B. Gukyamukhov, I.M. Dorfman, A.F. Jyutunji, B.U. Usmanov, L.M. Kucherenko, E.N. Rudenko, A.M. Matviyenko, T.N. Nurov, Zh. Kayumov, O.M. Dusmatov, R.Sh. Indiaminov, A. Tilavov, F.A. Amirkulova, F. Sattorov, M. Rakhmatov worked at the Department of Theoretical Mechanics.

Academician T.Sh.Shirinkulov, Professors: F.B.Badalov, K.Sh.Bobomurodov, Kh.T.Turaev, A.I.Latipov, Zh.Akilov, B.Kh.Khuzhayorov, Kh.Kh.Khudoynazarov, O.M.Dusmatov, and several Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors, graduated from the Department of Mechanics.

From 1977 to 1995, the department was headed by Associate Professor T.N. Nurov, from 1995 to 2013 by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Kh.Kh. Khudoynazarov, and from 2013 to 2018 by Associate Professor Sh.D. Berdiyev. From 2018, Professor Kh.Kh.Khudoynazarov was appointed Head of the Department. Currently, 10 professors and teachers work at the department.

International cooperation: Since the establishment of the department, its members have been on regular scientific visits to foreign universities. This tradition continues to this day. Members of the department conduct scientific research in cooperation with scientists of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Moscow State University, Tomsk State University, University of California (USA), University of Oakland (New Zealand).

Members of the department are engaged in the development and implementation of new and improved experimental and theoretical methods based on the consideration of refined physical and mechanical characteristics of materials, providing accurate information about the stress-strain state of structures and their elements, especially in local areas of irregularity in the structure of the material, methods for the optimal placement and effective design of reinforcement in flat and spatial systems, the creation of theories of axisymmetric and asymmetric vibrations of cylindrical layers, shells and rods interacting with the surrounding deformable medium, internal and external ideal and viscous fluids.
