    Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Russian literature. Since 1987 she has been working at the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature at Samarkand State University. Since 2013 she has been the head of the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature at Samarkand State University.

     In 1996, Shakhnoz Ishniyazova received her PhD in philology on "The role of legends and tales in modern Uzbek and Kyrgyz literature". During her career she is the author of 2 monographs, 2 textbooks and more than 40 scientific articles.

Abdullayeva Albina Suratovna

D. in Philological Sciences, Associate Professor. Since 1994 she has been working at the department of Russian and foreign literature. In 1995 Albina Abdullaeva defended her Ph.D. thesis on "Stage action and emotional-aesthetic atmosphere in Chekhov's plays of the 1900s" at St. Petersburg State University. Albina Abdullaeva is the author of more than 50 scientific works and 3 textbooks. Her articles have been published in about 50 foreign and other scientific publications.

Mavlon Rakhmatillaevich Bobokhonov

Doctor of Philological Sciences (DSc). He started working at the department in 2017. In 2012, Mavlon Bobokhonov defended his Candidate's thesis (PhD) on "Psychologism in modern Uzbek novels", and in 2023 he defended his Doctoral thesis (DSc) on "The problem of psychologism in the structure of modern Uzbek novels". In 2019, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor.
During his career, Mavlon Bobokhonov has published more than 30 scientific papers. Among them, he is the author of 2 scientific and 1 textbook. More than 20 articles have been published in the databases of the Higher Attestation Commission of Uzbekistan and more than 10 in other international journals.

Egamova Mastura Khakimjonovna

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in philological sciences. She has been working in the department since 2013. In 2021 Mastura Egamova received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philological Sciences on "Cognitive features of representation of conceptual concepts of duty/conscience (honesty) in a fiction text in the process of translation".

Mastura Egamova has published about 25 scientific works during her career. Including she is the author of 1 textbook. She has published 2 articles in SCOPUS databases and more than 10 articles in other international journals.

About the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature

The first Department of Literature was created in 1933. In 1930-1940 the Department of Russian and World Literature at the university was headed by Associate Professors P. P. Belov, P. V. Vilkoshevsky, L. N. Chernets.

Since 1933 the department was headed by professors R. K. Voitsek (1944-1965), J. O. Zundilovich (1964-1965), V. G. Lartsev (1966-1974), associate professor V. B. Lagutov (1984-1994).

Since 2013 the chair has been headed by associate professor Shahnoz Ishniyazova. Currently, the department has 16 professors and teachers.

International cooperation: since the establishment of the department its staff regularly went on scientific trips to universities in foreign countries. This tradition continues today: leading scientists from Russian universities, such as Y.V. Domansky, Elzbetta Jacques, and others, give lectures in various disciplines at the Department.
