ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL AND COLLOIDAL CHEMISTRY

The department was founded in 1933 and was headed by Professor N.A. Kolosovsky. Later the department was headed by Associate Professor V. N. Orestov, Professor P. A. Trofimenko and Associate Professor I. A. Orestov. After the Great Patriotic War, the department was reorganized in 1963 and was headed by Professor V. I. Ezdakov, associate professors R. N. Kutfitdinov, S. M. Vasina, N. K. Mukhamadiev. In 2011-2016 the head of the department was Associate Professor K.F. Khalilov. Since 2016 the department has been headed by Professor N. Mukhamadiev. In 1986 the department was named "Physical chemistry and chemical technology". In connection with the opening of the Department of Ecology at the Faculty of Chemistry in order to prepare highly qualified specialists in 1993 the department was divided into two departments: Department of Chemistry of Environmental Protection (Head Assistant Professor Kutfitdinov R.N.) and the department of Physical and Colloid Chemistry (Head Assistant Professor Vasina S.M.). In 1999, in connection with the cessation of activity of the department of environment protection and rational use of natural resources in 2000, the Department of Chemistry of environmental protection also ceases its activities. Since 2000, the department has been called "Physical chemistry and chemical ecology," the head of the department was Associate Professor N. Mukhammadiev, and in 2011 the department was headed by Associate Professor K.F. Khalilov. In 2013, it was renamed the department of physical chemistry.

The laboratory of biogeochemistry on the basis of economic contracts operated at the department from 1958 to 1990. During this period, various local contracts of great value were performed.

Income from the laboratory was used to strengthen the material and technical base of the department and faculty, equipping it with modern equipment. Yablochkina L.D., Kalodinskaya L.A., Shirova S.A., Usmanova Z.G., Khozhieva A.A. defended their PhD theses under the supervision of Prof. V.I. Ezdakov, Prof. Stepanov and docent. R.N. Kutfitdinov.

In the mid-1970s the department carried out individual works on processing wastewater and phosphogypsum residues from phosphoric and sulfuric acid phosphorite mining, as well as waste from other local enterprises. The Samarkand chemical enterprise has developed a method for treatment of recycled water generated during the production of extractable phosphoric acid by electrodialysis and returning it to the enterprise for the production process. Thus, it is possible to save expensive reagents, equipment and wastewater treatment. The team of the department and laboratory produced phosphogypsum plaster building materials, putties, building pastes, plaster mortars, window putties, acid-proof putties, heat insulation materials, materials for road signs, detergents. Based on the processing of phosphogypsum conducted research on its use as ameliorant on various crops, including cotton The department teaches the following academic subjects: "Physical Chemistry", "Colloid chemistry", "Structure of substances", "Chemistry of high-molecular compounds", "Computer modeling in chemistry", "Student's choice" and "Specialty courses

The implementation of new information technologies in the educational process, the use of such programs as Chem Office, Hyper Chem, Gaussian is carried out at the level of current requirements.

In the next 10 years in the co-authorship of professors and teachers of the department were published 10 textbooks, 20 manuals, 12 monographs, over 40 manuals and more than 750 scientific papers.

Today 13 professors and lecturers work at the chair. Out of them 2 doctors of sciences of chemistry, 3 professors, 6 associate professors, 4 candidates of sciences of chemistry, associate professors, 5 PhD, 1 assistant. The scientific potential of the department is 92.3%.

Within the mutual cooperation 3 textbooks, 6 manuals and more than 20 scientific articles were published. At Kazan Federal University and Kazan National Research Technological University 4 basic doctoral students conduct research.

The main scientific theme of the department is "Physical and chemical methods of synthesis, testing and processing of natural and synthetic materials". In the next 5 years the department successfully defended 7 candidate dissertations and one doctoral dissertation in the specialty "Physical chemistry - 02.00.04". To date 3 members of the department are working on doctoral dissertations. Therefore, a scientific school "Physical chemistry" has been formed and operates at the department.

The results of the scientific school "Physical chemistry":
