Nurova Gulchekhra Tishabayevna

Gulya Tishabayevna — Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of English Language, Linguistics and Literature. Her scientific research is focused on comparative linguistics, and she teaches English at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

In 2023, she successfully defended her PhD dissertation on “Structural and semantic analysis of methods of expanding the English sentence and their translation into Russian”. This research covers mechanisms of sentence complexity in English, their semantic functions, and equivalence issues in translation into Russian.

Tishabayeva is the author of two monographs and twenty-two scientific articles devoted to comparative analysis, structural semantics, and translation studies. Her research interests include cross-linguistic equivalence, translation theory, and the development of educational and methodological materials. She has prepared a study guide for chemistry students and is currently working on a textbook for master's students.

Under her academic supervision, three undergraduate students have successfully defended their graduation qualification papers. Tishabayeva regularly participates in international conferences and scientific events, including serving as a simultaneous interpreter. She also actively develops modern courses and practical tasks aimed at strengthening students' professional competencies.

DALER FURKATOVICH ZAYNIEV

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Linguistics. He began his career in teaching and worked as an English teacher in school (2011-2015), college (2015-2016), and Samarkand State University (2016-2019).
In 2019, he was awarded the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship for the Intercultural Linguistics Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Humanities, Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. In 2025, he successfully completed his doctoral degree, defending his dissertation titled «Lexical Polysemy of the Basic Colour Terms in English, Russian, Tajik, and Uzbek: The Role of Metonymy and Metaphor» with summa cum laude (with highest praise).

He has published nearly 20 research articles in international journals and edited volumes. Additionally, he has participated in around 10 national and international conferences.

The Department of English Language at Samarkand State University was established in 1962 under the Faculty of Foreign Languages of SamSU as the "Department of Foreign Languages". It was an inter-faculty department that primarily taught English to students. The department was initially headed by Professor L.A. Kletnova, Senior Lecturer R.M. Mamatov, Associate Professor B.T. Tursunov, and later by Professor A.M. Bushuy, Professor Sh.S. Safarov, Associate Professor A.N. Nurmukhamedov, Associate Professor M.B. Begmatov, Associate Professor G.M. Atayeva, Associate Professor T.S. Ismailov, Professor R. Gargesh, and Professor S. Zanjani. Currently, the department is headed by Associate Professor Yu.Sh. Nurmukhammedov. Throughout its existence, the Department of English Language has produced prominent professors such as M.M. Nusharov, A.M. Bushuy, and B.T. Tursunov, as well as renowned experts like A. Nurmukhamedov and Poshali Usmon. Associate Professor L.L. Arustamyan, Associate Professor A.M. Yuzlikayeva, Associate Professor D.I. Fakhrutdinova, and Senior Lecturers Kh. Mirmukhammedova, D.Sh. Mamajonova, K.Z. Khodjayeva, M.S. Kushshayeva, and K.O. Mamadaliyeva taught English to students at the department. Currently, Yu.Sh. Nurmukhammedov, N.A. Isakova, Sh.Sh. Khushmurodova, M.M. Buzrukova, S.A. Ruziyeva, G.T. Nurova, S.Kh. Tokhirova, Sh.D. Rofeyeva, A.D. Saidova, A.A. Urazkulova, and D.F. Zayniyev hold positions as Associate Professors; D.A. Sobirova, I.I. Rasulova, and F.R.
