The scope of research interests includes the photophysics and photochemistry of organic dyes and quantum dots in solutions and polymer films. The main areas of activity are the study of the influence of solvent nature, concentration, pH, and light exposure on the spectral and luminescent properties of materials; the investigation of aggregation and complexation processes with biomacromolecules (DNA, RNA, proteins), metal ions, surfactants, and nanoparticles; as well as quantum-chemical modeling of the electronic structure, spectral characteristics, and mechanisms of photophysical processes in these objects. Such an integrated approach, combining experiment and theoretical modeling, underlies the development of new luminescent materials, in particular fluorescent probes and sensors, which are in demand in biomedical diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and also in quality and safety control of food products.
