Shavkatzhon Makhmadiev, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor. Since 1997, he has been working at the Department of Uzbek Linguistics of Samarkand State University as a senior laboratory assistant, lecturer, and associate professor. Since 2021 he has been the head of the department of Uzbek linguistics of Samarkand State University.

In 2007 he defended his PhD thesis on the theme of "Stylistic formulas in the language of Uzbek folk eposes". He is the author of 1 monography, 2 textbooks and 2 manuals. The scientist has also published scientific articles in 1 Scopus journal and more than 60 publications.

Suyun Karimov – "Honored Coach of Youth of Uzbekistan," holder of the "Shuhrat" medal, Doctor of Philology, Professor. He has been working at the Department of Uzbek Philology at Samarkand State University since 1990. In 1983, he defended his candidate dissertation on the topic "The Language and Style of Zulfiya's Poetry," and in 1994, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "The Artistic Style of the Uzbek Language."

During his career, Suyun Karimov has published 9 monographs, 3 textbooks, and 20 educational and methodological guides. Additionally, he has published articles in 2 journals indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases.

Eltazarov Juliboy Danabayevich

He is a corresponding member of the Turkish Linguistic Society, doctor of philological sciences, professor. Since 1989, he has been working at the Department of Uzbek Linguistics at Samarkand State University. In 1992, he defended his thesis on the topic "Principles in the Uzbek language", and in 2007, his doctoral dissertation on the topic "The relationship and migration of groups of words in the Uzbek language".

He has been working at the Department of Uzbek Linguistics of Samarkand State University since 1999.

In 2005, he defended his candidate dissertation on the topic: “Functional and stylistic features of postpositions in modern Uzbek,” and in 2017, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation (DSc) titled: “The place and linguopragmatics of auxiliary parts of speech in the linguistic system of the Uzbek language.”

Azamat Pardayev is the author of 5 monographs, 1 textbook, 6 educational and methodological manuals, and 167 scientific articles.

Urinbaeva Dilbar Bazarovna

Doctor of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor. Since 1990, she has been working at the Department of Uzbek linguistics at SamSU. In 1994, she defended her PhD thesis on "Words invariable in the spoken Uzbek language", and in 2018 she defended her doctoral thesis on "Oral folk art: problems of genre-linguistic and linguistic-statistical research".

Dilbar Urinbaeva is the author of 4 monographs, 6 textbooks and 35 methodological manuals. He has also published articles in 9 foreign scientific journals.

Gafforov Alisher Akhmedovich

Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor. He has been working at the Department of Uzbek Linguistics at SamSU since 1992. In 1997, he defended his PhD thesis on "Syntactic Derivation of Deuteronomic and Adjective Devices in Modern Uzbek Language".

Alisher Gafforov is the author of 1 monograph and 4 tutorials during his career. He has also published 5 articles in Impact Factor and foreign journals.

Suvonova Rokhila Akramovna

Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor. She has been working at the department of Uzbek linguistics since 1996. In 2001 she defended her PhD thesis on "Metonymy in the Uzbek language". In 2019, she received the academic title of associate professor.

Rohila Suvonova has published about 100 scientific works during her career. She is the author of 1 monograph. She has published 4 educational and methodical manuals, 1 scientific brochure, 1 dictionary, 85 international scientific articles and 1 methodical recommendation

Zokir Baynazarov is the author of one monograph and one methodological manual. He has published more than 50 scientific articles, including one in a Scopus-indexed journal and others in national and international journals.

Istoda Rasulova is a member of the editorial board of the international journal “Great Turan.” She is the author of 1 textbook, 3 methodological manuals, and 1 monograph. She has published over 50 scientific articles.

History of the Department of Uzbek Linguistics

The Department of Uzbek Linguistics is the same age as the university. Leaders such as Abdurauf Fitrat, Evgeny Polivanov, Guzi Olim Yunusov, Ulug Tursunov, Abdurahmon Sulaimonov, Hamdam Berdiyorov, Rahmatulla Kungurov, Khudoyberdi Doniyorov, Abdujabbor Mukhtorov, Vakhob Egamov, Bozorboy Urinboev, Bekmurod Yuldoshev and Jurabi Hamdamov worked in the department.

The number of publications created by the staff of the department, to date, more than 100. Among these textbooks, educational and teaching aids for use in the educational process in the system of higher education, starting with large monographs.

During this period about 200 candidates and doctors of science were trained at the department. Among them are scientists, academicians, professors, associate professors, public educators and mentors.

To date, the Department of Uzbek Linguistics has 4 doctors of sciences, professors, 4 candidates of sciences, associate professors, 4 PhDs in philological sciences. They conduct research on the basis of the main perspective plan of the department for 2021-2026 "Issues of functional-stylistic and cognitive-pragmatic analysis of Uzbek language units".

The united staff of the Department of Uzbek Linguistics continues the traditions of the Samarkand school of linguistics, founded by Ulug Tursunov, and continues its scientific and pedagogical activity of educating students, raising them to be educated, perfect people, mature professionals. Members of the department actively participate in national and regional scientific and practical conferences with lectures and public assignments.
