The following disciplines are taught at the department: "Informatics", "Fundamentals of Programming", "Informatics and Information Technologies", "Information Security", "Theory of Algorithms", "Web-Based Programming", "Complex of Application Programs", "Database Management Systems", "Hardware and software for computers", "Software development", "Pedagogical web design", "Computer networks".

Priority direction of research activity: research work of the teaching staff of the department is aimed at informatization of the branches of the national economy and the educational process, solving modern problems of informatics, creating software tools, using modern information technologies in production and practice.

For many years, prof. I.I. Jumanov. Under the leadership of Jumanov, many grants and economic contracts for fundamental research have been completed. prof. I.I.Jumanov supervised the defense of 20 candidate and 1 doctoral dissertations. Currently, 3 independent researchers are preparing doctoral dissertations in philosophy.

The number of scientific, educational and methodological works created by the teaching staff of the department: in 2020, the teachers of the department published 96 scientific articles and reports-theses, as well as 5 teaching aids.

The following scientific circles and seminars work at the department: 1 scientific-problem and 1 scientific-methodical seminar. In addition, for gifted students there is a circle "Web programming and design", as well as a circle "Applied Informatics"

Nominal scholarships prepared by the faculty of the department: under the guidance of the assistant of the department of "Information technologies" Nazarov F.M. the below listed students became scholars: Samadov Aziz-holder of the state scholarship "Ulugbek" (2017); Samadov Aziz-holder of the state scholarship "President" (2019); Estemirov Bunyod, holder of the state scholarship "Ulugbek" (2018); Sayidkulov Asliddin-holder of the state scholarship "Ulugbek" (2019).

Institutions with which the scientific cooperation of the members of the department is carried out: NUUz, TUIT, TSTU, Termez State University, Kiev State University, Novosibirsk State University, Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, Institute of Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Minsk State University, Karshi State University and Fergana State University. Currently, the department is establishing scientific relations with many higher educational institutions of the Republic, as well as with Moscow, Kiev, Novosibirsk state universities, higher educational institutions and scientific institutions of the Czech Republic (Prague Development Center), China (Chinese Academy of Science), South Korea (Maritime Information and Communication Institute) and India (CMC Limited).
