The history of the world history department
The World History Department is one of the oldest chairs of Samarkand State University. It is one of the first 12 departments of the Higher Pedagogical Institute and it was established in 1927. Our University is a peer educator.
At the end of the war, in October 1944, the activity of the General History Department was restored together with the State University of Central Asia. The chair was headed by D.N. Lev since the beginning of 1949.
In 1965 D.N. Lev was assisted by the following associate professors: Rustamov S.R., Samiboev K., Abdurakhimova M.Y., senior teacher Yuldasheva X.M., assistant Ortikov M.Z., Jurakulov M.J., Narzikulov I.N., Mirzayev А.М., Zokhidova M.Z., Vorobev I.L., Khakimova O. and Fayziev Sh.F.
In 1971 the Archeology Deparment was opened within the History Faculty.
During the period of K.H.Samiboev's leadership (1967-1977), the Department of General History developed in all aspects. In 1967, 14 professors and teachers were working in the department.
From 1985 to 2009 Pirimqulov Sh. was the head of the General History Department. From 2009 until 2012 this department was headed by B.Turakulov. From 2012 until 2018 this department was headed by M.Khashimova. From 2018 to the present day Sh.Hkamrokulova is leading. The name changed into World History Deparment in September 2015. Nowadays there are 13 employees here. 12 of them are teachers and 1 is a technician. The teachers are Professor E.Z.Nuriddinov (doctor of historical sciences), associate professors M.R.Rakhmatullayev, M.Khashimova and B.T.Turakulov (candidates of science), S.Usarov (senior teacher) and assistant professors H.U.Gadoev, F.Rashidova, M.B.Yakubova, Sh.Khamrakulova, S.Sh.Pirimkulova, S.Ya.Umarov, L.Elimov and F.Rayimov.
The main theme of the department are the actual problems of socio-economic, political history and historiography of countries of the world (at the end of the XX - early XXI century).
The academic activity of professor-teachers of the World History Department is as following. Khashimova Mukaddas Muradkhanovna and her team specializes on the role of migratory processes in the history of the Central Asian republics (the middle of the XIX - the middle of the 20th century). Usarov Sirojiddin Rakhmatullaevich and his team chose the subject of the history of the formation and development of interstate cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Asia-Pacific region (in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore). Gadoev Hamro Usanovich and his team specialize on the exile of the Caucasian peoples to the territory of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the 20s and 20th years of the 20th century (Balkar, Gorkoy, Kalmyk and Greeks). Yakubova Mukhtaram Bakaevna and her team chose the subject of the contribution of German-speaking researchers in the study of the history of Central Asia. Rashidova Feruza Shomukhamedovna and her team chose the subject of the contribution of foreign investment in the formation and development of small business and private entrepreneurship in the Republic of Uzbekistan (Historical aspect). Hamroqulova Shohista Shamshidinova and her team are specialized on the republic of Uzbeks in Kazakhstan science and culture. Umarov Sardor Yakubovich and his team are specialized on the formation and development of intergovernmental cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in the context of globalization.
